11% growth in Kingston Park crowds
Crowds continue to rise at Kingston Park Stadium, with Newcastle Falcons reporting an increase in both season ticket holders and match by match attendees following the first 10 home games of the 2018/19 campaign.
Just under 70,000 (69,914) supporters have come through the turnstiles for Falcons home matches as of the Gallagher Premiership visit of Harlequins, an increase of 11% on the same matches during season 2017/18
The good news also translates to The Big One at St James’ Park in March, with sales for the match against Sale Sharks up by 31% on the same point last season and putting the event on course to set another new record home gate.
One of four huge games to be taking place in the city centre in 2019, with the Heineken Champions Cup, European Rugby Challenge Cup finals and England’s Quilter International against Italy all to follow at the home of Newcastle United, in the biggest year ever for rugby in the North East.
With huge games still to come at Kingston Park against Worcester, Leicester, Northampton and Bristol over the rest of the campaign, further growth is expected to be shown by season’s end in May as more and more people become acquainted with Falcons match-days.
Business development director Melanie Magee said: “We’re delighted that our crowd numbers are continuing to grow and are thankful for the support being shown to the team this season.
“Our numbers have consistently grown over the last seven seasons, with people either discovering the club for the first time, returning to the fold or maintaining their ongoing support and showing the continued appetite for top-level rugby in the region.
“We’re looking forward to having these fans with us for the rest of the season to come, with their backing crucial to the club enjoying a successful end to 2018/19.”
Tickets for all remaining home games, including The Big One on March 23rd are on sale now and can be booked by [**clicking here**][1], calling 0871 2266060 or by visiting the Kingston Park Stadium box office.
