A Falcons farewell

Wednesday 19 April 2023 Written by: Adam

It was announced recently that both Alex Tait and club captain, Will Welch, will both be hanging up their boots at the end of the 2022-23 season.

Tait spent 16 years as a full-time professional with Newcastle Falcons and has 269 appearances under his belt. The 35-year-old also tallied up 40 tries during his career.

Welch, another long-standing servant to the club, spent 15 years playing for his hometown team and made 275 appearances for the club. The 33-year-old also became the Falcons’ youngest ever captain when he took over the reins at the age of just 22.

Our fixture against Northampton Saints on Friday April 21 provides us and all our supporters the perfect opportunity to give both Alex and Will the send-off they truly deserve.

Both pre- and post-match there will be presentations and opportunities to show our thanks to these two Falcons legends, so make sure you’re down at Kingston Park to show your support!

If you haven’t already got yours, tickets are on sale now for the 7:45pm kick-off and can be purchased **[HERE][1]**.

Both Alex and Will have also been speaking to the club, reflecting on their careers and previewing the last run-out of the 2022-23 season at Kingston Park.

You can watch Alex’s interview **[HERE][2]** and Will’s **[HERE][3]**.
