Alan Shearer’s Newcastle Legends to grace Kingston Park
Proceeds from the match will go to the Alan Shearer Foundation as stars from yesteryear reunite to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Newcastle United’s famous 5-0 thrashing of Manchester United.
Shearer will be in the dug-out as he manages Newcastle’s star-studded side, assisted by fellow Toon striker Les Ferdinand. Players named in the squad include Colombian icon Faustino Asprilla, ex-England midfielder Rob Lee, Greek stopper Nikos Dabizas, Georgian forward Temuri Ketsbaia, former England centre-back Steve Howey and Geordie legend Peter Beardsley, to name just a few.
Former Newcastle and Manchester United winger Gillespie will take charge of the Manchester Select side for the event.
