Book your place for Friday’s season opener

Tickets are still available for the 8pm kick-off, which is not being televised, as the Falcons aim to carry their pre-season form into the Premiership.

Defeating Nottingham (50-12), Doncaster Knights (34-12), Gala RFC (57-12) and Edinburgh (26-21), Newcastle are out to start the league campaign with a victory for the first time since 2007.

On that occasion it was Sale Sharks who were on the end of a 33-12 drubbing – the Falcons this year having kept the core of last season’s squad as well as adding international quality in a number of key positions.

Canadian international forward Evan Olmstead has scored in all three of his pre-seaon outings, Tongan international No 8 Opeti Fonua started with a bang at Edinburgh last weekend and Fijian try machine Vereniki Goneva adds further impetus to an already potent-looking back line.

Marcus Watson is back on Tyneside after winning silver at the Rio Olympics, while the return to fitness of Sinoti Sinoti and Scotland prop Jon Welsh sees both men back and firing on all cylinders.

Tickets for Friday’s season opener against Sale Sharks start from just £15 for adults, £12 concessions and £5 for under-16s, with seats from £25 adults, £20 concessions and £10 under-16s.

Friday’s game is covered by the 2016-17 season ticket membership, which starts from just £208 adults, £176 concessions, £70 under-16s and free for under-11s (two per paying adult).
