Deano salutes Kingsholm heroes
The director of rugby said following the Kingsholm triumph: “I’m obviously delighted.
“Considering how much possession Gloucester had and the fact they scored four tries, I’m happy we won. We got our kicks apart from one which hit the post, they missed theirs and sometimes that’s just the way it goes.”
Negotiating a difficult build-up, the Falcons boss said: “We had a lot of disruptions going into the game.
“We had the snow which affected our training, our flight down was cancelled, Bobby Vickers’ wife went into labour the night before the game and then Toby Flood pulled out before kick-off with illness.
“The great thing was the boys just put it behind them, they showed strength of character and got on with the job.”
Installing themselves as firm play-off contenders, he added: “We have a side which is maturing, coming to places like this doesn’t faze us and we’re getting better by the week.
“We couldn’t win a game away from home four or five years ago, those same guys have matured and they’re incredibly professional in how they approach it.
“We’ve put ourselves in a good position and we’ve got five huge Premiership games ahead of us.”
