Newcastle Falcons and GAP Group announce partnership
Family-run organisation, GAP Group employs 120 people in the North East and has grown to become one of the UK’s leading electrical waste processors, operating processing lines including Europe’s most advanced, environmentally-friendly fridge reprocessing facility capable of recycling more than 700,000 fridges a year using all-gas capture recycling technology.
The three-year deal with Newcastle Falcons, which will see GAP Group become a main partner of the club, is the latest continuation of what is a long-standing relationship between the organisations with GAP Group having sponsored the club in various ways since 2014, including the sponsorship of club captain and the provision of waste processing and recycling services.
Speaking about the partnership, Peter Moody, managing director of GAP Group (NE) said: “GAP Group North East are delighted to be back of shirt sponsors for Newcastle Falcons. Over the years the Falcons have represented the True North spirit of passion and determination while remaining a stable, well-run club which is essential in today’s environment.
“I really believe the new coaching team are bringing a dynamic way of playing back onto the pitch and with Rebecca Thompson and the commercial team getting it right off the pitch, I believe we have a bright future which is why we are committed to this long-term partnership. Come on you Falcons.”
Peter and GAP senior management are also particularly keen to promote the importance of active sustainability, something which closely aligns with Newcastle Falcons’ focus on increasing sustainability in sport.
The carbon savings GAP is now achieving annually is the equivalent of a family car driving to the sun and back and shrewd technological investment has led to dynamic growth with GAP becoming the North East Business Awards 2022 High Growth and Ambition winner.
Commenting on the partnership Rebecca Thompson, commercial executive at Newcastle Falcons said: “It’s great to have agreed a new deal with GAP Group NE and to have continued to build on the scope of how our businesses work together as they move to becoming one of our main partners.
“Our sustainability initiatives are closely aligned, as is our commitment to the North East of England. It’s always a pleasure to work with likeminded companies and we’re looking forwards to continuing to build our relationship with the team.”
The GAP Group consists of four companies: GAP Organics, GAP Ice, GAP Waste and GAP Haulage.
