Newcastle Falcons have drawn Toulon, Montpellier and Edinburgh in the group stages of the Heineken Champions Cup.
The Falcons are playing Champions Cup rugby for the first time in 14 years after a remarkable 2017-18 campaign, the competition carrying extra significance for the region this year with the final set to be played at Newcastle's St James' Park on Saturday May 11.
Newcastle Falcons director of rugby Dean Richards, a two-time Champions Cup winner during his time in charge of Leicester Tigers, said: "It's exciting for us to be back in the competition and we always knew we would be facing tough opponents.
"All six group games will provide fierce opposition, but we are relishing the opportunity and looking forward to testing ourselves in Europe's top level tournament."
Fixtures for the tournament will be announced in due course, with the six pool rounds and knock-out matches to be played on the following weekends.

Over 25,000 tickets have now been sold for the Heineken Champions Cup final. With finalists' allocations and hospitality tickets reserved there are fewer than 16,000 tickets remaining for the showpiece final. Ticket sales for the European Challenge Cup final are also well ahead of schedule, with more than 14,000 sold.
Tickets for all three of Newcastle Falcons' Heineken Champions Cup pool games are included in the 2018-19 season ticket membership package, which sees 18 games from as little as £225 for adults.
