Falcons Appoint New Cumbria Development Officer

Tuesday 6 August 2013

The Falcons Community Foundation in conjunction with the Falcons Academy have appointed a new Cumbria Development Officer, Keith Robinson.

The role is important for the Falcons to support and develop activity in Cumbria, where there is both a lot of interest and talent, as well as in supporting our vision and values as a club. Returning value to the community in which we work is hugely important and the Cumbria position is an opportunity to extend this geographically. The Falcons consistently pursue excellence and having a permanent base in Cumbria allows the Academy to scout for and develop local talent with the prime examples of Mark Wilson and Chris Harris already in the Falcons ranks.

Keith will be supporting the Academy Satellite Centre which is already established in South Cumbria as well as delivering the AVIVA schools programme in the area for the first time. The running of this programme will provide over 1500 new participants in year three classes with six weeks of high quality coaching in tag rugby. The schools also have the opportunity to compete between each other and win a place at Twickenham at the Premiership Final.

Prior to joining the Falcons Keith has been involved in Cumbrian rugby for a number of years. As a qualified P.E. teacher he has played and coached at Penrith RFC and is a coach on the RFU School of Rugby Programme and Excel Camps.

Melanie Magee, the Director of the Falcons Community Foundation says, “We are delighted to welcome Keith to the Falcons. It’s important for us to be able to engage with communities in Cumbria as we do in the North East to ensure we have a positive impact on the wider geographical area we serve. I look forward to working with Keith to develop and strengthen relationships with schools, clubs and other organisations in the area.”
