Award winning team to deliver flagship rugby league programme on behalf of Newcastle Thunder
The Falcons Community Foundation is to develop a Rugby League strand to its ever increasing breadth of community projects as the charity announces a new working relationship with the RFL and Newcastle Thunder.
Using the Foundation’s existing staff and networks, the new programme will start by delivering the new Sky Try programme for Thunder.
Supported by First Utility Super League broadcast partner Sky, Sky Try is a new seven year programme that aims to ‘make a difference by increasing the amount of viewers, spectators and participants to Rugby League.
The RFL view this as a great opportunity to develop and grow the sport by ensuring all projects work to drive long term growth through outcomes and impact and are used to develop academic research to help access further funding.
Head of Foundation Melanie Magee said: “The support we have received from the RFL has enabled us to team up with Sky to deliver a fantastic project.”
“We already offer a wide variety of programme across rugby union as well as multi sports which all help to deliver outcomes in line with our 5 pillars of activity”
“Working with such high profile partners will allow us to expand and co-ordinate the community offer, beginning with activity around the Magic weekend at St James’ Park and Newcastle Thunder v York at the end of May“
