Newcastle Falcons welcomed a host of the world's top strongmen to Kingston Park Stadium this week ahead of their upcoming Ultimate Strongman World Championship at Metro Radio Arena.
Four-time world's strongest man Zydrunas Savickas, European champion Laurence Shahlaei and six-time UK's strongest man Eddie Hall joined up with members of the Falcons squad to promote the event on Saturday December 10.
Newcastle players Jon Welsh, Juan Pablo Socino, Belisario Agulla, Andrew Foster, Santiago Socino, Sam Lockwood and forwards coach Micky Ward were on hand to link up with their visitors, taking them on in a mock tug of war and getting an insight into each other's training regimes.
Hall's brother James is a former Falcons first team player, while Shahlaei revealed his own oval-ball links.
He said: "I played a lot of schoolboy rugby and represented the South West, as well as Cheltenham and Gloucester. I have a good background in it and it is great to be here with the Falcons boys.
"I love meeting athletes from different sports, and trying to understand one another's training regimes. It is a great stadium here at Kingston Park, the Newcastle players have been fantastic and we are lucky as sportsmen to get these opportunities. We admire what they do, from speaking to them today we know the feeling is mutual and hopefully we will see some of them at Metro Radio Arena on December 10."
Tickets for the Ultimate Strongman World Championship start at £28.
