Falcons to face Castres and Cardiff in Europe

Friday 13 November 2020

Newcastle Falcons will face Cardiff Blues and French side Castres during the European Challenge Cup group phase.

The home-and-away clashes get underway on Friday December 11 when the Falcons host Cardiff Blues at Kingston Park Stadium - the 8pm kick-off being shown live on S4C.

Round two sees Newcastle travelling to Castres on Friday December 18 in a game being shown live in France on BEINsports, kicking off at 5.30pm UK time.

The Falcons host Castres on Saturday January 16 at 3pm, with no live TV coverage, finishing their group stage at Cardiff Blues on Saturday January 23 - the 8pm kick-off being shown live on S4C.

The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic has seen a shortened structure brought in on a one-off basis, with 14 teams competing in one large group.

Each team will play four games during the league phase, two home and two away, with the top eight teams progressing through to the round of 16.

There, they will be joined by eight teams dropping down from the Heineken Champions Cup, with one-leg knock-out games during the round of 16, quarter-finals and semi-finals, all leading up to the final in Marseille on May 21.
