Falcons fly-half looks ahead to Sunday's Heineken Champions Cup action at Kingston Park Stadium.
Joel Hodgson says this weekend’s Heineken Champions Cup match against Montpellier will provide excitement for both players and fans alike, as Kingston Park Stadium plays host to the top level of European Cup rugby for the first time since 2005.
The fly-half and his team-mates got the club’s first campaign at this level of continental competition for 14 years, off to the best possible start last weekend on the Cote d’ Azur with a 25-26 victory over three-time champions RC Toulon and says the aim is for the same this weekend.
Speaking to Falcons TV, Hodgson said: “It was exciting against Toulon. I think if you spoke to any fan who went out there they would tell you that they’d had one of the best days of their lives and there is no reason why that can’t be the same against Montpellier.
“They’re a team filled with world class players who have won world cups, played in test series and it's exciting for us to play against those guys and I’m sure it would be very exciting to watch those guys in action and hopefully see a good Newcastle Falcons win.”
