Falcons Under-16s show well against Sale

Tuesday 8 August 2017

Newcastle Falcons under-16s enjoyed a full-blooded start to the season on Sunday with three 30-minute games against Sale Sharks.

Held at Penrith RFC, the young Falcons were putting into practice all of the learning points from their three-day training camp at Barnard Castle School.

A total of 29 players featured for the Falcons on the day, with eight being under-15s and representing the academy for the first time.

Academy coach Aiden McNulty said: "The effort levels of the players were outstanding, both with and without the ball, and it was great to see them creating so many opportunities."

Newcastle Falcons' under-16s and 18s are next in action on August 16-17 when they travel to Warwick to play in a regional festival against three other academies.
