Goneva sweeps the board at The Big Bash

Tuesday 8 May 2018

Vereniki Goneva swept the board at Newcastle Falcons' Big Bash awards night, sponsored by Pulman Volkswagen.

The Fijian winger won the Ken Lockerbie Trophy for Player of the Season at a well-attended Kingston Park dinner, having been shortlisted alongside (in no particular order) Michael Young, Calum Green and Kyle Cooper.

Goneva also claimed Players' Player of the Season and Try of the Season (v London Irish at home), the Big Bash celebrating the Falcons' memorable campaign ahead of next Saturday's Aviva Premiership semi-final.

Academy Player of the Season went to Adam Radwan for an incredible year which saw him as the top try-scorer in the European Challenge Cup, making his Aviva Premiership debut and winning the Anglo-Welsh Cup Breakthrough Award.

Scotland Under-20s scrum-half Ruaridh Dawson won Community Player of the Season for his efforts in promoting the game, chef Alam Minto won Clubman of the Year while chairman Semore Kurdi was a reluctant recipient of the Outstanding Contribution to Rugby award.
