Hodge starts on the wing for England U20s

Newcastle Falcons' Josh Hodge starts on the wing for England Under-20s on Wednesday as they conclude their World Rugby U20 Championship group campaign against Australia Under-20s.

The match in Santa Fe, Argentina, is a 7.30pm UK-time kick-off, and is available to watch online via the World Rugby website.

Hodge kicked the winning penalty for England in their last match against Italy, but their failure to secure a bonus point means their chances of winning the tournament are already at an end.

Hodge's club-mate Josh Basham misses the game through injury, England Under-20s head coach Steve Bates saying: “This is a big fixture for us and the players know we need to raise the level and pace of our game against a good Australia side.

“We always enjoy matches against southern hemisphere opposition, it’s not often these players get the opportunity to face the likes of Australia or New Zealand and they are very excited about that.

“The players feel like they haven’t played their best rugby yet in this competition and the challenge for them is to play with a bit more continuity in the game. We trained very well yesterday with that in mind and I’m hoping to see an exciting performance from us on Wednesday.”
