Hogg Back In Business

Thursday 14 February 2013

Newcastle Falcons back-row Ally Hogg is delighted to be back in the mix for Friday’s RFU Championship clash at home to Moseley (kick-off 8pm).

The 30-year-old Scotland international, who has enjoyed the adulation of Falcons boss Dean Richards this campaign, returns to the starting XV following a knee injury that has kept him out of action since last December.

Now Hogg is fully focused on helping his side make it 15 league wins on the bounce as the Falcons edge closer to guaranteeing a play-off berth.

“Moseley will be a good challenge for us, and they are the last team to score a try against us from a maul,” said the Stirling-born No.8.

They have a good set of forwards and we will obviously have to watch that area of their game.

“That said, they have recently been throwing the ball around in the backs so we will also need to nullify that and get on top of them,” added Hogg.

Meanwhile Michael Tait gets a well-earned recall back to the side after a string of eye-catching displays for National League One club Tynedale.

Tait, 22, who features for the first time in the league this term admits it is a ‘massive relief’ to be back in contention, and is now bursting at the seams to repay the faith shown in him.

“I’m delighted to be back in the side, and I’m really looking forward to the game,” said Tait, who joined the Kingston Park set-up in the summer of 2009.

He added: “It’s a massive relief for me to be back in contention – it can be the most frustrating thing in the world being at the club and not been able to play.

I train with these guys every day and hang around with them all the time, so all you want to do is get onto the pitch and play with them.

“Now I’ve got a shot at it.”
