Ally Hogg starts for Scotland ‘A’ this Friday against an England Saxons side containing Newcastle Falcons teammates Scott Wilson and Kieran Brookes (kick-off 7.30pm).
The experienced No. 8, who has 48 caps to his name, will go head-to-head with youngster Wilson in the pack. It will be Hogg’s first appearance in a blue jersey since 2009 when he represented the full Scotland team.
Hogg, 31, made his Scotland ‘A’ debut against Romania in 2002, and this season Falcons boss Dean Richards has called for the robust back-row to be considered for the senior outfit.
Head coach Shade Munro said: “Allister has been playing very well for Newcastle Falcons, so he’ll be a key player for us on Friday.
“There is a great mix of youth and experience within our squad and it’s really encouraging to see so many young players coming through and getting the opportunity.”
