Newcastle Falcons can now report a rise of over 27% on match day attendances throughout the Aviva Premiership season.
With match day crowds having increased steadily throughout the season and Season Ticket Membership sales up by over 11% to date, Newcastle Falcons have reported much positive news throughout the season so far.
However a continued increase in ticket sales means the North East club is now seeing its highest average crowds in seven years.
And with over 4,500 tickets already sold for the club’s final home fixture of the season against Harlequins on 16th May and numerous group bookings still to be confirmed, the Falcons are on track for an even larger average.
The Falcons have already seen the second biggest average increase in crowds of any club throughout the Aviva Premiership season with only Wasps, who moved stadium earlier this term, reporting a higher rise. However, a crowd of 7,882 at the forthcoming Harlequins game would confirm an overall rise of 30% on attendances throughout the season.
Newcastle Falcons Managing Director Mick Hogan said:
“The continued increase in attendances is great news and is down to a number of factors. Of course it all starts on the pitch; the team have put in a steady stream of good performances throughout this season and there’s no doubt that they are playing some very entertaining rugby.
“Match day experience has also been a big focus for us this year; our newly refitted bar, the Tap & Tackle, is proving very popular and is one of a number of improvements we’ve made to stadium bar services throughout the season.
“The new 3G pitch has also had a big impact, and access to that surface before and after games makes Kingston Park Stadium a great place to be for fans and community groups alike. Continued ongoing work surrounding transport options for our fans is making it increasingly easy to get to and from a Falcons game.
“It’s also important to highlight the hard work our staff have put in and I’d particularly like to congratulate our marketing and community teams. Over the course of the season we’ve seen better engagement with supporters, community groups, local businesses and the media.
“Most importantly though I’d like to thank our supporters who continue to back the team. We’ve seen magnificent support right from the first game of the season through to the Quins game, which is already selling well, and that’s something we’re very grateful for.”
With just one game left of the current Aviva Premiership season thoughts at Kingston Park are already beginning to turn towards the 2015-16 term, which is sure to be a huge one for rugby thanks to the Rugby World Cup 2015.
Over the coming 12 months the club will be targeting another double digit rise in crowd numbers and will be working hard not only to create more community engagement but also to encourage even greater liaison and dialogue with supporters.
There are also a number of plans in place for improvements to the Falcons’ match day experience leading into and throughout the 2015/16 season.
