Fraser McKenzie has moved to Edinburgh Rugby with immediate effect with the Newcastle Falcons lock signing a two-year deal with the RaboDirect Pro12 club.
Mckenzie, 26, who signed for Newcastle in the summer of 2013, requested the move in order to enhance his chances of gaining full international honours with Scotland.
Making 21 appearances in all competitions for the Kingston Park club last term, McKenzie has previously represented Scotland at under-19, under-20 and ‘A’ level, but is yet to earn his first senior cap.
Newcastle director of rugby Dean Richards said: “Fraser wants to play international rugby and he feels that a move away from Newcastle Falcons will improve his chances of achieving that.
“We wish Fraser all the best for the future.”
