Nathan Greenwood to make England 7s debut

Newcastle Falcons wing Nathan Greenwood will make his England Sevens debut this weekend when they take part in the Rugby Europe Sevens Trophy Series in Zagreb.

The 18-year-old Gosforth Academy and Whitley Bay Rockliff flyer has been promoted to the Falcons' senior academy squad next season after shining for England Under-18s.

Drawn in Pool C, England men face Sweden, Luxembourg and Bulgaria on day one at NŠC Stjepan Spajić, with the tournament streamed live on www.rugbyeurope.tv.

Head coach Tony Roques said: “We as a staff and player group are looking forward to heading to Zagreb.

“We are pleased to be able to give so many players their England sevens debuts. They have all trained very well and deserve this opportunity.

“Pulling on an England shirt is always a special moment and it’s great to further strengthen links between clubs, universities and ourselves.

“We are looking forward to seeing how this group go over the weekend.”
