Powell looks ahead to Saints

Thursday 18 February 2016

Adam Powell is looking forward to welcome a team he calls a traditional powerhouse when Northampton Saints visit the North East on Sunday (KO 3pm)

Coming into the match off the back of impressive wins in Aviva Premiership Rugby round 12, both teams have enjoyed a good run of form since the turn of the year and will be looking to maintain their respective momentum's.

Speaking to Falcons TV, Powell said “They will be the same as always, they are a really good team and one of the best in the Premiership. They are one of the traditional powerhouses. I’m expecting a big strong pack with a good set piece and a back-line that are dangerous.”

“We have to be on our metal and it shows how the Premiership is such a hard league that every week is difficult. We’re both in good form, which hopefully will mean it will be a higher quality game. We’re improving all the time; they are a strong team which will hopefully serve up a good game.”

In his chat with the club’s YouTube channel, Powell also looked back to last weekend’s 26-14 win over Leicester Tigers, including his thoughts on his first half score.
