Richards Hails Travelling Support

Monday 16 December 2013

Newcastle Falcons boss Dean Richards has paid tribute to the travelling contingent who made the trip to northern Italy at the weekend.

Richards guided his side to consecutive victories over Cammi Rugby Calvisano on Saturday, winning 25-10 to put the Falcons very much in contention for an Amlin Challenge Cup quarter-final spot.

A smattering of northeasterners made the journey with the Falcons chief keen to show his gratitude for their support.

“They were fantastic out there, and they were great ambassadors for the club,” said Richards.

“Their support is never taken for granted, and they have been brilliant all season – I’m sure they had a great weekend especially after seeing us win,” he added.

A Zach Kibirige brace coupled with a touchdown from Rory Clegg made sure of the points for Richards’ men.

“The win puts us in a good position to challenge for a place in the last eight, and the result also gives us confidence going into the Exeter game next week.

“We know it’s going to be tough down their but that’s rugby,” added Richards.

Tickets are still available for the Falcons’ next home Aviva Premiership match against London Wasps on Friday 27 December by calling 0871 226 6060 or click here to purchase online (kick-off 7.45pm).
