Richards Lauds 'Fantastic' Fans

Sunday 10 February 2013

Dean Richards hailed the Newcastle Falcons travelling contingent after his side’s 13-9 triumph over Leeds Carnegie in the quaint West Yorkshire market town of Otley.

The Falcons continued their winning mentality with a performance dripping with character and spirit to extend their unbeaten run to 20 games in all competitions.

Paying tribute to the army of Falcons fans who travelled on the Supporters Club coaches and in cars, Richards said: “The support today was absolutely fantastic, and it was great to see coaches full of Falcons fans make the trip.”

Reflecting on the muddy conditions that put paid to a free-flowing attacking game, Richards added: “The try in the first-half was very well-taken bearing in mind the conditions so I was delighted with the final outcome.

“The boys managed to come through with the win which is the main thing, and I thought our scrambling defence was pretty good.”

Now the Falcons turn their attentions to next Friday as they welcome Moseley to Kingston Park (kick-off 8pm). Richards admits it will be great to get back to playing on Tyneside again after a month’s absence.

“I’m really looking forward to returning to Kingston Park and it will be great for the fans,” said Richards.
