Craig Willis breaks against Nottingham

Richards seeks greater patience and cohesion

Monday 8 August 2016

Cohesion and patience are top of Dean Richards’ wish list as Newcastle Falcons prepare for Saturday’s visit of Doncaster Knights to Kingston Park Stadium (kick-off 3pm).

Having seen his side run in eight tries during last weekend’s 50-12 thumping of Nottingham, Richards said: “Against Doncaster we will be looking for more cohesion.

“The Nottingham game was the first time we have tried a lot of our plays and our players against opposition other than ourselves. We made some decent strides and it will be great now to carry that on against another good side in Doncaster.”

The Falcons boss added: “To be fair to Nottingham they are not a bad side at all. Against Doncaster it will be a bit of a step up, but Nottingham gave us a good game and we will need to understand some of the areas in which they picked us apart a bit.

“We need to tighten up in certain departments defensively, and from an attacking point of view we have to have a bit more patience. The Nottingham game showed that when we do have that patience things will happen for us.”

The Doncaster match is included in the Falcons’ 2016-17 season ticket membership package. Non-season ticket members can gain entry for £20 premium seating, £10 standard seating or standing and £5 for under-16s. To book call 0871 226 6060 or click here.
