Russell Previews Nottingham With Falcons Tv

Friday 5 April 2013

It is an exciting stage of the season according to Newcastle Falcons head coach Peter Russell, who took time-out to speak to Falcons TV in the build-up to this evening’s British and Irish Cup quarter-final clash with Nottingham Rugby at Kingston Park (kick-off 8pm).

The former Hawke’s Bay chief, who joined the Falcons’ heavyweight coaching set-up last summer, is enthusiastic at what lies ahead for the northeasterners as the business end of the season kicks-in.

“It is an exciting time for us at the moment,” Russell told Falcons TV.

“The quarter-final has been a long time coming with the six round robin games, but it is here now and we are very much looking forward to the challenge that Nottingham will bring,” added Russell.

Two weeks after narrowly defeating the Green and Whites 14-12 at Meadow Lane, Russell admits home advantage tonight is a big boost for his team.

He said: “It is huge for us, and the boys love playing in front of their own fans, and they know the pitch very well.

“The pitch is in great condition, and I think you will see a style of rugby that we have been working on for a good number of months.”

Tickets for tonight’s game are priced at just £10 adults and £5 kids by calling the Falcons Ticket Hotline on 0871 226 6060 or click here.
