Adam Radwan topped the try-scoring chart, with 14 in 15 games

The stat cave: End-of-season special

Following their promotion back to the Gallagher Premiership on the back of an unbeaten Championship season, Newcastle Falcons' statistical lowdown reveals some of the stars of 2019-20.

An admittedly-curtailed campaign drew to a close after 15 rounds, with the Falcons 18 points clear of nearest rivals Ealing Trailfinders after winning all 15 of their games.

Boasting by far the best points difference in the division (95 ahead of closest contenders Ealing), the Falcons were also unbeaten in all seven of their Championship Cup fixtures, having reached the semi-final stage.

Their 41-0 home win over Bedford Blues on Friday March 13 turned out to be their last action of a season which was ultimately halted early due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but it had been a campaign of solid rebuilding from Dean Richards' men.

Top appearance maker during the 2019-20 season was back-rower Callum Chick, who featured in 19 of the Falcons' 22 outings in league and cup.

Tom Arscott, Jamie Blamire and Joel Hodgson followed closely on 18, with Sean Robinson and Trevor Davison just a single game behind.

Try-scoring proved a particularly competitive field, with the Falcons grounding 11 try bonus points in their 15 Championship fixtures.

Top of the shop from an individual perspective was Adam Radwan, the flying winger scoring an incredible 14 tries in 15 games in the season which saw him signing a newly-extended contract.

Co-captain George McGuigan showed an equally-impressive strike rate in scoring 12 tries from 13 outings, centre George Wacokecoke scoring nine tries in his 16 games.

Academy graduates Ben Stevenson and Jamie Blamire showed their promise with seven tries each over the course of the season, Newcastle's future sitting in demonstrably safe hands.

Points-wise, predictably it was a goal-kicker who ruled the roost, Toby Flood scoring 87 points in his 16 games, while Brett Connon sent over 54, just three behind Joel Hodgson following his 57-point contribution.
