Two-match ban for Penny

Thursday 7 October 2021

Newcastle Falcons full-back Tom Penny has been banned for two games following an RFU disciplinary hearing on Tuesday night.

Penny was sent off by referee Anthony Woodthorpe in the 49th minute of Saturday's 18-14 victory over Wasps. This was for contact with the eye area, contrary to World Rugby law 9.12.

Penny accepted the charge and was given a two-match suspension by the independent disciplinary panels comprising Sir James Dingemans, with Mitch Read and Leon Lloyd.

He is free to play again on October 19, 2021.

In addition, Penny was also given a reprimand in relation to a separate charge brought under RFU Rule 5.12 for disrespecting the authority of the match official.
