Fly Half says squad targeting further development as European action returns.

Newcastle Falcons need to “make a statement” in round five of the European Rugby Challenge Cup on Friday (KO 19:00 CET) and continue their upward development curve, according to Craig Willis.

Speaking to Falcons TV, the fly half says recording a win on French soil would do wonders for a squad that still harbours ambitions of making the quarter-finals of the competition.

He said: “The main focus [in these games] is to continue the development of the squad, we need to make a statement in this completion and go over to France and get a good win, which I think will do wonders for the squad.

“There are bits in our game that have made us more competitive against the big teams in the league with our attack is now scoring tries and we are really potent with the ball in hand. There are things to work on but we have made big strides in the last few weeks.”
