Watson's Olympic medal hopes still alive

Newcastle Falcons wing Marcus Watson's hopes of an Olympic medal are still alive after Team GB made it through to the semi-finals of the rugby 7s in Rio de Janeiro.

Watson was a half-time replacement in their final group game against New Zealand on Wednesday, pulling off a try-saving tackle in a 21-19 triumph.

That booked Team GB a quarter-final place against Argentina, which was decided by a try in golden-point extra time after no score was recorded by either side in the regulation 14 minutes.

Team GB will now meet South Africa in the semi-finals today at 7pm UK time, with the final and the bronze medal match to follow the same night.
