Webb Ellis Cup to visit Close House as part of Rugby World Cup 2015 Trophy Tour

Newcastle Falcons will join up with Close House to host Web Ellis Trophy as part of the Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour.

On 30th July Rugby’s greatest prize, the Webb Ellis Cup, will visit Newcastle's Close House Golf Resort as part of the Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour.

Launching on 10th June, 100 days to go to the opening match, the Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour will travel through Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Wales and England before arriving at Twickenham Stadium on September 18 ahead of the Opening Ceremony.

As part of the Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour, Newcastle Falcons have joined up with Close House, to host the Webb Ellis Cup as it arrives with 50 days to go before the Tournament begins.

On Thursday July 30, the Trophy will arrive at the No. 19 Clubhouse and, as our guests enjoy their golfer’s breakfast, they will have the opportunity to have their picture taken with the Trophy.

The morning continues with a Rugby World Cup Q&A with our local Rugby Legends, who will offer insights on their Rugby World Cup experiences..

Our preparations for hosting Rugby World Cup 2015 in Newcastle are gaining momentum now and the arrival of the Webb Ellis Cup to the city is going to raise the profile of the Tournament even more.”

The journey throughout the UK and Ireland aims to engage fans and give them the opportunity to build unforgettable memories as part of their own Rugby World Cup 2015 story.

Rugby is at the heart of the Trophy Tour engaging with over 100 rugby clubs, organisations and rugby festivals, from grassroots to elite. In addition Host Cities, Match Venues, community and legacy programmes, sports events, stakeholder visits, Worldwide Partner activations and iconic landmarks will feature as part of the Trophy Tour with over 300 events programmed across the 100 day continuous tour.

With less than six months to go, the Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour across the UK and Ireland will create hundreds of opportunities for fans to see the Webb Ellis Cup and tell their rugby story as they countdown to their own Tournament experience.
