Prop-forward Richard Palframan has pledged his future to Newcastle Falcons by signing a new two-year deal.

The 31-year-old has made 51 appearances for the club since joining from Worcester Warriors in 2021, with the South-African-born forward having previously played for London Irish and London Scottish.

Director of rugby Steve Diamond said: “Palf has done a great job for us on the tight-head side, and I was always keen to extend his time with the club.

“He’s a fantastic character who offers a lot to us on and off the field, and I’m glad that he will be with us as we look to move the club forward over the next few years.”

Delighted to have secured his future in the True North, Palframan said: “I’m really happy to have re-signed with the Falcons.

“It’s a privilege to be part of the club and I’m grateful for the chance to keep doing what I love, playing alongside a great bunch of lads and working with the fantastic staff.

“The club has been through some tough times over the last few years but it really feels like we’re in a better place now, and heading in the right direction. That said, we know there’s still plenty of hard work ahead to get the club to where we want it to be, and everyone’s committed to putting in the graft to make that happen.

“I’ve loved living in the North East for the last few years. It’s a brilliant place with great people, and although it’s a few degrees colder than Cape Town it feels like home. Hopefully I can catch a few more salmon in the next couple of years, too!

“I’m excited for what’s to come, and I can’t wait to give my best for the club and the fans.”
