Marcus Tiffen joined Newcastle Falcons’ senior academy in the summer of 2021.

Educated at Austin Friars School in Carlisle, Marcus finished his A-Levels a year early and embarked upon a maths degree at Newcastle University at the age of 17.

The versatile back-rower came through the Cumbria DPP pathway and featured in the Falcons’ A-Team game against England Under-20s in the spring of 2021, helping Newcastle to a 43-22 victory.

The flanker made his first-team debut for the Falcons in March 2022 away to Northampton in the Premiership Rugby Cup, scoring a try in the left corner. In 2022-23 he featured six times for the first team, scoring his first Falcons try in cup action at home to Sale Sharks.

The 2023-24 season brought a further two senior appearances before injury cut short his campaign.
