RICHARDS LAUDS JERSEY WELCOME
Richards watched on as his side ran in three second-half tries to secure maximum points and move 13 points clear of Bedford Blues at the top of the table.
“I have to say that the hospitality here in Jersey has been absolutely wonderful, and the trip has been a success both on and off the field,” said Richards, who now prepares his charges for the visit of Plymouth Albion this Friday.
“We knew it would be a friendly welcome, and it is a club that is friendlier than any other club I have come across,” he added.
After holding a slender 5-3 advantage going into the break, the Falcons came out for the second period in positive fashion.
Played in sodden conditions, Richards’ men weathered the elements to claim another five-point haul to send the traveling army of Falcons supporters home happy.
Richards said: “Looking at what they have done at home this year, they are a quality side, and their scrummaging has been really good.
> They played well against Leicester in a pre-season friendly, so to
> come away with a bonus-point is fantastic.
“Full credit has to go to the ground staff for getting the game on as a lot of sides would have struggled to get it on.
“The conditions did dictate the way that the game went, but you have to change your game accordingly,”
The Falcons continue their quest to get back to the big time against Plymouth Albion this Friday (kick-off 8pm).
